Quarter Moon waxing, Autumn, year of theGryphon
My travels through the human lands of Middenland have brought me the village of Untergard, in the Drakwald forest. Having spent most of my coin in Altdorf (the little that was not stolen outright), I know I will need to find work in this town to pay my expenses. Being able to rest safely in a comfortable inn or tavern will be a welcome relief after traveling the roads alone for so long. There is Chaos sign in the forest, even along the roads. Hopefully, this was from beasts that died in the invasion, and nothing more recent.
Sadly, upon closer inspection, the village doesn't appear much more secure than the surrounding woods. The Chaos army devastated the eastern half of the town (that lies across the Grimminhagen River, on a still standing bridge). The inn, burned down. Bad luck for my back, good luck for my purse. I ask among the peasants for a barn to sleep in. Wide eyed, one of them offers. The further north I go, the more isolated and innocent the humans are. I don't have the contempt for them that lies so heavy on the tongue of my brothers. I feel something more similar to pity, I imagine. The poor fools.
